Over a 3-week period in November, Share Discovery Village had the pleasure of running swimming lessons for Fermanagh Stroke Support Group.
About Fermanagh Stroke Support Group
This amazing, local group is out there to help support anyone who has been affected by a stroke, by coming together to share experiences and tips to help deal with the issues that they may have faced or have to face.
A wonderful part of what the group offers is access to social activities in the local area to help repair confidence and learn new skills.
This is where Share Discovery Village were delighted to help out.
Social Swimming Lessons and Relaxation
The group, based mainly in Enniskillen, were picked up and dropped off by SHARE on one of our wheelchair accessible buses, a total of 6 times.
The visit lasted 2 hours, with 1 hour spent in our fully-accessible swimming pool under the tutelage of our experienced instructors.
These lessons were relaxing and social so as to make each of the members feel at ease and not pressurised into getting results fast.
After their fun and relaxing swimming lessons, the group gathered together for a scrumptious tea break with homemade scones, tea and coffee.
Improvements and Feedback
The participants in the swimming lessons improved drastically over the sessions and even surprised themselves.
We now look forward to welcoming them back again in the future.
One participant quoted on Facebook: “Brilliant time in share thank you so much Susan for all the patience you had with me. Thank you to all the staff and baker for the lovely tea and scones. Share is the place to go.”
